Meet The Team
Learn the faces, names and stories of the people that help Wizer CIC operate.
Tee - Managing Director
Tee is the founder and Managing Director of Wizer CIC.
Having navigated the Criminal Justice System, Tee recognised the need for peer support in being able to reach out to those often living chaotic lives and detached from mainstream services.
Aimee - Team Leader
My passion for helping others stems from both personal and academic exploration. Having experienced childhood trauma, I have witnessed first hand how such experiences can have a lasting and detrimental impact on individuals’ lives. I recognise that I was fortunate enough to have a strong support network around me, however, I also recognise that for some this opportunity isn’t readily available. My studies in criminology made me increasingly aware of the barriers that contribute to the revolving door of disadvantage, and this made me want to advocate for fair and effective practice to promote recovery, dignity and hope.
Sean - Recovery Navigator
Hi, I’m Sean, a Recovery Navigator at Wizer CIC.
I began my criminal and drug taking history at a young age. I was a vulnerable young person who became used to committing crimes and suffering the consequences. This started a 24-year chaotic journey, with that involved prison and drug abuse. I thought it would be impossible to escape after many failed attempts. I eventually went to rehab and started engaging with groups and therapy. I have now been clean from all drugs for 5 year and have not committed an offence in over 8 years. My life has changed so dramatically, and I have a passion to support those in similar circumstances.
Shawn - Recovery Navigator
I grew up in Grimsby on the Grange Estate and had a good solid Family. I always felt like I didn’t quite fit in anywhere which resulted in me “acting out” and using Gateway drugs like Weed and Tablets from the age of 14. This started me on a path of self-destruction for 30 years all consisting of addiction, crime and prison. I never knew there was a “Way out” until 1 person reached out and helped me. On the 21st Jan 2020 I changed my life forever and stopped doing all mind altering substances. Coincidentally, once I did that the crime and the jail sentences also stopped. On the day I promised myself I would be that person who would reach back and help others which brings me to Wizer. I am now nearly 6 year abstinent from all drugs with a passion to help others…!!
Mathew - Volunteer
Hi, I’m Mathew, a volunteer at Wizer CIC.
I started my journey with mental health problems and instead of getting help, I turned to alcohol and drugs. To fund this, I started with petty crime and eventually committed an armed robbery. I went to prison for 16 months and realised that I did not want this life, so decided to better myself. I am now 2 years sober, a facilitator for Andy’s Mans Club after attending their sessions for mental health and volunteer at Wizer to help people understand that it is not the end. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and we can turn our lives around.
